Pepsi Americas to change 'every package we have'

Pepsi Americas Chairman and CEO Bob Pohlad declared at a second quarter earnings call Tuesday that the company needs to change “every package we have today.”

The packages, he said, need to change “in both configuration and size, optimizing consumer value and margins and providing further runway for pricing.”

He added later in the call that new PET packages were being added in Ukraine, but did not elaborate on how packaging changes might manifest in the U.S., where profits fell by 1 percent and volumes fell by 5.4 percent.

Worldwide, revenue increased by 12 percent, but Pohlad said he was satisfied with the company’s domestic performance.  The U.S. functions as a cash engine, he said, while the company seeks growth overseas.
