BevNET Review:
This is a pretty good, sweet juice cocktail but it's a bit too sugary to have the exotic feel that it could. That's because Bolthouse pours a healthy measure of apple juice in with its antioxidant mix. Still, the acai and pomegranate mix have a piquant quality to them, and the deep purple liquid, when viewed through the transparent Bom Dia bottle, is very pretty. One big, big gripe -- the product has guarana, but doesn't mention it, which could be a problem for the caffeine-sensitive.

Açai Berry with Cacao

This entry into the second generation of acai berry drinks uses an ingredient that we have yet to see in a mainstream beverage: cacao (that’s the fruit whose seeds are used to make cocoa and chocolate). But that’s not all – this drink is also loaded with acai, guarana, Merlot grape juice, and apple juice, resulting in a blend of fruit that is truly original. Cutting the acai with other fruits gives the product a more mellow and decidedly mainstream gritty grape-juice taste that finishes with a splash of tartness. The packaging is attractive, but word heavy, and it’s most definitely the type of product that will require the consumer to examine it before deciding to purchase. Our only reservation with this product is that it might still taste a bit foreign to the American palate, especially when tasted side by side with the Mangosteen variety.

BevNET Review:
Despite mangosteen being a natural foods-grade ingredient, this variety of Bolthouse’s Bom Dia line will taste more familiar to most consumers. In essence this blend tastes like a combination of grape juice, banana, and coconut flavors, although only the first of these items is actually present in the product. Mangosteen, which is something that even natural/health food consumers have most likely never tried, is, therefore, not an ingredient that will whet the appetite, making this product require heavy sampling/marketing to make it sell well. Still, the quality and refreshment factor are top notch, making it one of the best from Bolthouse to date and we believe that consumers who do sample it will come back for more. Overall, a well executed but exotic concoction that manages to present a mainstream flavor.
