Madre Mezcal Wins Top Award At Spirits Business Tequila and Mezcal Masters

April 2, LOS ANGELES – In the 2025 Spirits Business Tequila and Mezcal Masters, Madre Ensamble was awarded the Mezcal Taste Master Award, ranking it as the top rated mezcal among all 129 products entered into the competition. 

In addition to Madre Ensamble’s top award, Madre Tequila and Madre Espadin were both awarded Gold medals. All three Madre expressions that were entered into the competition were recognized. 

"We’ve always been proud of each of our expressions, so it's exciting to see that all three that we entered won awards,” said Madre Mezcal CEO Chris Stephenson, “This recognition is a testament to our ethos of respecting the agave’s natural flavors and the care taken by the producers we partner with.”

To determine the winners, three panels of judges conducted a blind-tasting of all entrants, awarding a Master, Gold, or Silver award to the most notable expressions. After all awards had been determined, the judges re-tasted all products that received a Master award to determine the Taste Master Award – the product which was deemed the best in show. 

As Madre Ensamble took the Mezcal Taste Master Award, Infinium Spirits’ Tears of Llorona won the Tequila Taste Master. 

Madre Ensamble is a 45% ABV mezcal made with a blend of Cuishe and Espadin agave.

Madre Espadin is a 43% ABV mezcal made with 100% Espadin agave. 

Madre Tequila is a 48% ABV tequila blanco made with 100% Blue Weber agave.
