With roots in clinical health, design innovation, and the A-Frame Venture Studio, Amber Brandner and Bradley Harris are reimagining what hydration can do for both body and mind through their new functional beverage startup, Mirth Water - A clean-label, electrolyte-infused juice drink designed to support emotional well-being as much as physical hydration.
Amber, a registered nurse, brings her background in patient care and humanity-centered design to Mirth's wellness-first philosophy. Her clinical experience shaped a deep belief that hydration influences not only physical health, but also emotional well-being.
Brad, an entrepreneur and creative strategist, has built purpose-led brands through A-Frame that bridge culture, storytelling, and social impact. Together, they're channeling those experiences into a single mission, to connect hydration with emotional resilience.
Amber explains:
"Hydration isn't just physical, it's emotional. When your body is properly nourished, your mood, focus, and resilience all improve. That's exactly why we built Mirth, to support both."
At a time when Americans report record levels of stress and burnout, Mirth positions hydration as a simple, science-backed tool for emotional well-being.
Brad and Amber first discovered Mirth at Erewhon Market, where customers described an immediate emotional connection. Brad added:
"Parents told us, 'It turns my kids' heads every time.' That moment showed us Mirth had real emotional resonance. It connected across generations in a way few beverages do. We saw an opportunity to make something that felt as nostalgic and fun as the drinks we grew up with, but made with integrity, without the neon sugar water and artificial ingredients."
The founders completely reformulated the beverage from the ground up, replacing artificial ingredients with 100% organic fruit juice and partnering with Buoy Hydration for clinically backed electrolytes and trace minerals.
University of Pittsburgh research shows Buoy provides up to 64% better hydration than water alone, supporting both physical and emotional wellness. Amber explains:
"Dehydration affects mood, energy, and mental clarity. We wanted to create something that hydrates deeply, without compromise, no added sugar, no synthetic additives, just real fruit, real minerals, and real connection."
Mirth, meaning joy or delight, represents one emotion within a much broader spectrum. The founders believe true well-being means honoring all feelings, not just positive ones. Amber adds:
"Emotional wellness means acknowledging the full range of human experience. When you're properly nourished, you're better equipped to move through whatever you're feeling, stress, joy, overwhelm, or peace."
Looking ahead, Brad and Amber envision Mirth not just as a beverage, but as part of a broader movement toward mindful living and emotional connection. Brad said:
"We want Mirth to remind people that when you care for your body, you're caring for your emotional health too. Hydration and feelings are connected, and that connection changes everything."
Mirth is part of a new wave of beverage innovation centered on emotional well-being, blending real nourishment with design that helps people feel more connected, present, and human.
